Ringkasan Cerita FILM SALVATION BOULEVARD (2011) :
The self-satisfied smirk of Pastor Dan Day (Pierce Brosnan, chewing the scenery with glee) turns stricken when he accidentally shoots his debate opponent, atheist Dr. Paul Blaylock (Ed Harris). The only witness is Carl Vanderveer (Greg Kinnear, affably blank), a former Deadhead turned member of God’s flock, whom Day persuades to go along with making the shooting look like a suicide.
But Day doesn’t trust Carl to keep mum, and Day’s always had eyes for Carl’s wife Gwen (Jennifer Connelly), so Day has loyal cameraman Jerry Hobson (comedian Jim Gaffigan) find a more permanent solution to the problem. This is only the beginning of a freewheeling comedy of corruption, also featuring a pot-smoking security guard (Marisa Tomei), a venal real-estate broker mistaken for the devil himself, and other colorful characters.
The satire of the mega-church mentality is mild and the excellent cast digs into their well-written roles. The plot takes a few dubious turns and by the end the whole commotion doesn’t amount to much, but it’s certainly entertaining along the way. Special note should be taken of Isabelle Fuhrman (Orphan) as Carl’s stepdaughter Angie; she’s a charming young actress who deserves more screen time than she gets. Based on the novel by Larry Beinhart.
